Dan and I headed to sleep last night at around 9:00. Seems like that’s pretty good … and I’m hoping we adjust quickly to the time change. We shall see!

While I did have some wakeful moments during the night, I didn’t actually get out of bed until 8:00. At 8:45 Dan was still sleeping. Do I wake him? Do I not? Unfortunately I forgot to ask him last night what he’d prefer.

Jan, Greg, and I had our morning coffee and all three of us were on our devices. Us crazy kids and our devices, eh? Hah!

Dan did then wake up (yep, he is alive!), Greg went to purchase some brötchen, and we enjoyed a nice breakfast with the brötchen and some cheeses.

After breakfast Greg headed out on a bike ride (running errands as well), Jan exercised, and Dan and I exercised in our own special way — typing on our iPads. 😉

Today is, as readers know I’m sure, Election Day in the states. It didn’t do any good to look at news, though, being as we are nine hours ahead. I’ll just have to patiently wait until tomorrow to see what has happened.

Eventually Jan, Dan, and I went on a little walk to get some coffee. It was pleasantly cool, which helped me stay awake, and a bit windy as well. Brrr! Jan selected a few kinds of coffee for their espresso maker, and then we walked back toward the house, but stopping at another place to get our own coffees. We sat and enjoyed those for a bit.

Then back we went. Greg was now back as well.

Soon, though, it was time to head to Vanessa and Avni’s (and their kids, of course).

… and what a fabulous time! Sadly I didn’t get many photos from our visit, but seeing Vanessa, Avni, Levin, Maya, and Hannah was a total delight! We arrived and sat around for a good amount of time just visiting.

Gee, it looks like we only got photos of Hannah here and only one is from yours truly. Thanks, Jan, for your photos!

Then it was time for Maya’s cello lesson, so Greg, Jan, Dan, and I drove there, and then we did a bit of walking in the neighborhood.

Now, was I together enough to take a single photograph of our time at dinner? Nope. But please trust me, the meal was delicious (thank you, Vanessa and Avni!) and the time was truly delightful. What a fabulous family! I’m extremely annoyed with myself for not getting photos of the rest of this lovely family. Rats!

When we got back to Greg and Jan’s we enjoyed a lot of conversation. Me, being my silly and, dare I say it, annoying self, was … well … I was just being me! I’d apologize for my goofiness, but I yam what I yam (not Popeye, though … don’t get the reference? So sorry for you!).

I can’t tell you what fun it is to be here and enjoy my family here in Heidelberg.

Stay tuned for more adventures tomorrow!
