Goodnight, July 8

When we start the day (always later than I expect) I think, “Well, this will be the day I don’t meet my steps/exercise goals.” I really don’t care if I miss those when on vacation, but of course my watch does reprimand me a bit when I don’t make it. Somehow, though, we then end up doing a lot of walking later in the day. And when you walk in Porto … well … you do a lot of stairs! So it was an over 7 mile day (in truth I suspect we’ll do many more miles in some places), despite the slow start.

After saying goodbye to Jameson & Meghan we rested up (and I posted here). Then it was back out and about, on a bit of a random walk.

After much walking we had made it to 8PM, and that means dinner time. We try to grab a spot somewhere by then because so many people eat even later and places fill up. I had found a place I would have liked a reservation for the other day, but when I looked it was booked through August. Same with one other that was recommended. Ah well … we just took a chance and asked if a place we found had space and since we didn’t have a reservation we were stuck in a little corner outside, but that was fine by us. And dinner was tasty. We really MUST stop eating so much, though. It’s getting ridiculous!

After that we walked quite a bit, and I’ll bet Dan got some great photos. I primarily used the iPhone, knowing I’d want to share images here.

Tomorrow it’s moving day, and we are heading, via train, to Lisbon!
