I feel like we had two days in one today and I’m exhausted, but I will quickly write so I don’t forget what we did.
This morning was, as I wrote earlier, a train trip. We took the very fast train to Donostia/San Sebastián, arriving a bit after 3:00, to meet up with Jameson and Meghan (our younger son and daughter-in-law) and “see” (well, okay, with the crowds, seeing was a bit iffy) the second day of the Tour de France.

Before connecting with Jameson & Meghan we were buzzed into the rental. we don’t have a bad view of the little bar below us … and those trees!

It was just amazing to BE there in that Tour crowd. I never thought I’d manage to get to one of these (and tomorrow we get to see a bit more!)

After that bit of fun and excitement we went back to our VRBO, got about a 1 hour bit of respite, and then headed out for a food tour, where we had a bit of a tour of the area, and then the most incredibly pintxos at three different locales, along with some wine from Spain. Our tour guide, Sara, was just super, and of course we ate far too much, but we had a fabulous time. The food … oh my goodness!! … it was very special.

Finally we headed back to our lodging, walking by an amazing view … and a lovely couple!

Tomorrow I think we’ll need a meal here at the rental so we can kind of pull back on food for a while. If I continue to eat as I have I’m going to put the 15 pounds I lost back on far too easily!
Pintxos must be what they used to call tapas in the 70s? San Sebastian had the best back then. You are bringing back very fond memories. Thanks!
We are in the Basque region so these are called pinxtos (pronounced “peenchos”), while the Spanish have tapas.
