When we returned from our DEVA trip I went to take a shower. Waited for the hot water to kick in. And waited. And waited.
NO. HOT. WATER.
In addition, our Vent-a-Hood is on the fritz. I knew that was going to happen: the signs were pretty darn clear. So that also has to be fixed, along with one burner refusing to light.
These things are frustrating, but as annoying (and so darn costly!) as these things are, I am relieved that they happened before we left for the Big Trip. I’d hate for our house sitters to have to deal with these issues. I think I’ll look around the house to see what else might fail! And I had better write a list of who to call if something does go awry while we are away. (Psst … update is now below the image.)
This isn’t from the DEVA trip, but from an Utah trip we took in October of 2021. It just seemed fitting to post considering all this broken stuff we are dealing with. (But why does it make me think of Harry Potter?!)

UPDATE!
Our wonderful plumber (from Moomau Plumbing) came out and we do NOT need a new water heater. The darn thing wasn’t working for Dan when he tried to relight the pilot light, but our plumber has a routine he goes through and, sure enough, that worked!
The repairman for the hood and burner came out and quickly fixed the burner. The hood is a bigger job and will take some time and a good amount of money, but at least it can be repaired rather than have to be replaced. So that’s just fine with us. It was really my fault: I hadn’t bothered to clean the hood and I guess I should do that monthly. Oops!
